The Purge-air-lator

HRV Australia has developed an ingeniously simply device to work in conjunction with the HRV Healthy Home Ventilation system. The "Purge-air-lator" underwent testing in the 2007/2008 summer and the latest evolution means you can automatically purge hot air from your roof space when it reaches a preset temperature. This means your roof cavity gets ventilated and has a reduced peak temperature through the hot summer days as well as drawing in the cooler air in the evenings faster.

The benefit is twofold. Through the day your insulation does not have to soak up as much heat and therefore reduce radiant energy coming through your ceiling through the day and lowering the inside temperature.

As soon as the sun goes down the Purge-air-lator draws the cooling outside air immediately into your roof space providing the HRV system some cool air to then introduce into your home bringing the outside temperature indoors.

The major advantage of controlled ventilation of the roof cavity is that during winter, the warm blanket of air is not evacuated, unlike uncontrolled ventilation which increases the household heating requirements..

HRV has a fundamental aim to reduce the unnecessary use of artificial heating and cooling by intelligently using warm or cool air that is freely available.
