B McPhail
Dear Sir
We have enjoyed the benefits of our HRV system for almost two
months now during late winter and early spring. During this period we have
already experienced the extremes of Akatarawa weather which put the HRV system
through its paces.
In review:
1. The HRV fan is near silent, noticeable only on totally
windless nights. And even then it’s a pleasant reassuring sound rather than
obtrusive.
2. The control panel is excellent. I know exactly what’s going
on and have total confidence that the system is working as it should.
3. I had some concerns that the cold air being pushed into the
house from the ceiling would make the house colder than usual. I was wrong -
even though you can feel the cool air coming in through the ceiling vents when
you hold your hand to them, the overall room temperature seem to be warm as
ever. Maybe because the air is drier?
4. We have had fewer fires since the system was installed. The
house is warmer in general.
5. Plus the internal temperature is now much more even in all
the rooms in which the ceiling vents have been installed.
B McPhail 6. We never had much of a condensation issue, yet the
HRV has noticeable reduced condensation to frosty nights only. Leaving the
curtains ajar certainly helps.
7. I am very pleased that we decided to have the summer kit
fitted. Even this time of the year the house used to get uncomfortably hot -
very refreshing to come home to a house that is no longer like an oven. For us,
this is where the real value is.
8. I’ve checked over the mechanical side of the HRV in the
ceiling - it’s robust and well made.
9. There were two negatives:
a) Our house smelt of mice for
a couple of weeks after it was first installed
b) A second visit was required to complete the
installation.
To other potential customers, just buy it! And get the summer
kit (which should NOT be optional). The long-term advantages certainly outweigh
the short-term cost.
Yours sincerely,
P.S. Douglas, you are welcome to call in whenever you’re
passing by!
